Memories
Up at 3:15 this morning, a little to early but I love this time**** a nice hot cup of coffee and a crochet project and a movie**** perfect. It's also a time to watch the day awake as I watch the shadows of the top of the hill and trees are out lined with the beginning of the sun.
It seems at a certain time of the morning everything is so colorful and clear, the birds are looking for breakfast, the morning strings of webs stringing from one branch to another gleam in the sun. It's another day to create memories and connect them with long ago memories.
Our son and his beautiful wife came to visit us yesterday, they have a wedding to attend this morning and hubby and I get to play with our grandson, it looks like a train ride is in order which I know he will enjoy.
Last night we all went to dinner and stopped to visit my mother. I couldn't wait for her to meet our new daughter in-law and grandson. I thought it is amazing that my mother is here to be a great-grandmother and it was so nice to watch her met Landon for the first time. I took pictures to make time stand still but it still keeps moving.
Mom was excited to meeting Jen knowing she too is an artist in her own way. Jen was amazed at the tole painted stool mom had done many years ago, I'm sure mom will let her have the tole books she has.
I remember the pictures of my grandfather holding me as I watched poppa hold Landon.
It's so funny but we may be in a different century now but pictures always show who things and people do the something as was done many years earlier, just a different year and different people.
When I was a young child being around my grandparents and feeling how much they loved me has been with me all my life which is why it's so important for my grandchildren to feel how much they are loved by Paul and I. I pray that when they become adults and marry and have families they will reflect on how we took pictures of them with us and how much they were and still are loved.
Moving from the Bay Area to the Foothills of Sonora is just another memory we leave for our children and their children. The peace of the early morning sun, the birds playing, the Humming birds chasing each other......God's country

Memories
It's a beautiful Saturday morning, the first day of summer. I'm not really sure the difference between spring yesterday and summer today but I will take it and enjoy one beautiful day at a time.
It's been two months since we moved my m other from Carson City Nevada to Sonora. She is only nine minutes away from where we live and I love that she is so close. It was always hard to be close to here when there was only the phone between us. My fear of not getting to here when she would need me was so frustrating.
Sitting on the deck this sunny morning with a second cup of coffee and looking out at the hill with all the tree and watching the birds flying back and forth reminds me of how Blessed I am to be able to soak in all the beauty. How many times I have done this and wished my mother could see this and know how happy and content I am with my life.
So much of my life I have wanted to share with her before that time comes when she is in a better place. I've come to realize just how much of my mother I don't know but some of that is because she has aged and has rearranged her day to day living because of her stroke and loosing her husband Pat to cancer.
I always knew I wanted to take care of my mother ever since my step dad (Bill) passed many years ago. I have seven brothers and sisters all from other step parents. The day my step dad passed and I saw my brother take care of the arrangements for his burial I stayed with my mother, then is when I knew when it came time to take care of her that I would be the one to see her threw her last years and follow her last wishes.
I spend time now making sure she understands what her bill are, shopping dr. appts and anything else she needs. I spend my lunch hours with her, she may not know it but I'm getting to know her again at the same time. Her short term memory is what she is struggling with like most elderly and even though I have heard it before I pretend it's the first time.
She feels comfortable with my husband and I that we have her best interest at heart.
I love hearing over and over again all the memories she has because most of them are my memories also. I have always felt that the elderly have so much to teach us through their stories and experiences, no matter how technical our society becomes knowing the history of our elders are so important to how we live today and who we are.
Well enough of memories for now, time to make some for today.

Memories....
Wow, so much has happened since my last post which was in 2013.
I often wonder what kind of person I would be called, some people with old names are often referred to as an "Old Soul". I just remember so much of my past and relate it to things that cross my life. How many others remember a favorite grandparent or aunt/ uncle and compare THEN with NOW.
I have often thought how much my mother and I have mirrored each others lives.
She was just had turned 20 five months before she gave birth to me, (her first)and I had turned 19 when I gave birth to my first son. She had four children and I had four children, both married young, had the same surgery's and so much more.
One thing I always admired about my mother was she was such a lady. I loved watching her put on her make-up as I sat on the edge of her bed talking to her about life as a teenager.
She made me laugh when she described growing up in a house with three sisters and seven brothers.
The parties my grandparents threw just because or when there was a wedding, birth, baptism or how my grandfather would have nothing to do with me during the first month after I was born, after all she wasn't married, and then one day I was crying so hard and my mother couldn't get to me. Then there was silence, she tip toed up the stairs only to find me lying in my grandfathers arms, she said after that day I belonged to him. I loved those days just her and I.
I would watch her pick out her heels and purse, everything had to match and fit just right. She invited me to go with her to look for a dress for a New Years Eve party. We went to a fancy store with dresses in the window that shined. It took so long but she found what she was looking for---- a straight line sliver dress that glimmered, little did I know that five years later I would wear that same dress to my high school Christmas ball with my future husband.
Mom always worked in a office typing 60 words a minute with NO mistakes, she would tell me never work in an office full of women guess what I do now.
Memories come alive by the smell of something beautiful, the morning light in a dew filled field. I have more memories at a later time. Hope not as long as before because new things have happened.
